Plans Change

For Flute and Piano | 12’30” | 2016

Program Notes: This piece was written during a time of my life where I was experiencing a major change in life plans. When you are finishing college, you make plans about how you see your life going. At 25 having finished a master’s degree and being unemployed I had begun the daily grind of frustration at my lack of job prospects. The day I got asked to compose this piece was the same day I received the offer for the job I would work at for the next two years. A job that was never in my plan. As I finish my doctorate I think about how important this time was for me, and even though plans change sometimes, we never know how that change will positively impact your life.
